Amitabh Bachchan has made inestimable contribution to global cinema

Amitabh Bachchan was awarded an honorary doctorate on Thursday on Australia's Queensland University of Technology (QUT) from its decades as a significant contribution to the creative industries.

"I congratulate the QUT Bachchan, my hometown of Brisbane on academic honorary doctorate from the institution," Varghese said.

"Bachchan has made a tremendous contribution to world cinema, and this award is a marker for the effect of the film Australia," he added.

"Bachchan would like to thank the overall movie I want to make an enormous contribution. This award is important to promote a culture of dialogue between India and Australia," added Varghese.

Australia director Baz Luhrman Bachchan was the last production of "The Great Gatsby" at Fox Studios in Sydney, Leonardo Di Caprio, along with Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton.

"Bollywood is a major move from niche to grow in Australia it is known. When Aamir Khan's film" Peepli Live 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival to a packed audience at 'brought to life, it was clear, Bollywood caught the Australian imagination, "added Varghese.

"The Bollywood boom taking place in Australia, Australia-India relations in the whole spectrum, growing trade and investment, education and tourism, two-way links from the phenomenal growth of the shows.

"Very simply, our country is becoming increasingly important, and mutual interest. And a crucial element in the convergence of cultural relations," he added.

Varghese said the staging of a major pop music festivals in India next year, Australia will be a showcase for contemporary art and culture.

Bachchan is the second person, it was an honor. Infosys Technologies chief mentor Narayana Murthy first.
