Rani Mukerji, last seen as a strong journalist with 'No One slain Jessica Bollywood was surprised in more ways than one. His next film is a Bollywood film, or a follow up in women-driven films.
The next movie Rani was a Marathi film of the South star Prithviraj, entitled "Aaiya" (an exclamation of surprise). The film is a quirky love story between a Maharashtrian woman, played by Rani, and a South Indian (Prithviraj).
"Aaiya" is set in Mumbai, and the first time we have seen Rani played a typical Marathi woman, dressed in simple salwar suits and spray the language dialogues. In fact, the actor is currently in preparation mode working with a professor at the voice, body language and nuances of his character to get right.
"This is a very simple story, but hilarious. In fact, Rani broken up many times during the story," says a source close to the actor.
"Aaiya" is helmed by Sachin Kundalkar, a Marathi director of a recipient of National Award for 'Nirop "in his film released in 2008, while his next film, Gandhe, won many critics.
"Sachin is his debut in the Hindi film Aaiya, but act in 'rookie film director is never a problem with Rani if he wants a script," added the source.
The film, which is made by Anurag Kashyap, begins the first week of October, and the recording until December 17. "Aaiya" was recorded at locations such as Pune, Mumbai and Lonavala.
